The Not-So-Fine Print: Our Shop Policies

Welcome! Here at Forever Winding Wool, I want every part of your experience to be wonderful, from browsing the yarns to casting on your first project. Below you'll find all the details about returns and shipping, written in plain English so you know exactly what to expect.


Need to Make a Return? No Problem!

While I hope you love every skein that arrives at your door, I understand that sometimes things just aren't the right fit. If you need to make a return, here’s everything you need to know.

The Golden Rule of Yarn Returns

This is the most important part! To be eligible for a full refund, your yarn must be returned in its original, pristine, and resalable condition.

This means the yarn:

  • Is still in its original hank or skein, just as you received it.
  • Has NOT been caked, wound into a ball, or worked with in any way.
  • Still has the original tags and labels attached, ready for its next adventure.

Basically, if it looks ready to hop right back on the shelf and find its next perfect home, you’re good to go!

The Return Process in 3 Easy Steps

  1. Timing is Everything: Please make sure your return is postmarked within 30 days of your original purchase date.

  2. Package it Up: Pop the yarn in a box or mailer to keep it safe on its journey back. The original packaging is great, if you still have it!

  3. Send it Home: You are responsible for return shipping costs. I strongly recommend using a trackable shipping method. A lost package is a sad package for everyone, and I can't process a refund for an item that doesn't make it back to the studio.

The Money Part (Refunds!)

Once your return arrives here, I'll give it a quick inspection to ensure it meets "The Golden Rule." If everything looks good, your refund will be processed to your original payment method within 1-2 business days.

  • Returning a Gift? Please note that refunds can only be issued to the original purchaser, not the gift recipient.

Exceptions to Note

The following items are final sale and not eligible for return:

  • Yarn that is not in its original, resalable condition (see The Golden Rule!).
  • Custom-ordered hand-spun or custom hand-dyed yarn. These were made just for you!
  • Items showing normal wear and tear. While I stand by the quality of my products, they aren't covered by a manufacturer's lifetime warranty.

Getting Your Goodies to You: Our Shipping Policy

Fast Turnaround & Tracking

I know you're excited to get your yarn, so I work fast! Orders are shipped within 1-2 business days. (Custom orders are the exception, and we'll agree on a timeline for those separately.) All U.S. orders include delivery tracking and confirmation, so you can watch your package's journey to your doorstep.

Please Double-Check Your Address!

Your yarn wants to get to you! Please take an extra moment to ensure your mailing address is complete and correct during checkout. If an order has already shipped, I unfortunately cannot change the address. No refunds will be issued for undeliverable orders due to an incorrect address unless the package is returned to me by the postal service.  If it is returned to me, I will issue a refund for the order, and you will need to reorder with the accurate address.

A Note on Our Eco-Friendly Packaging

I believe in beautiful yarn, not excessive waste. I am transitioning more and more to use minimal, eco-friendly packaging to get your order to you cleanly AND safely. Your yarn will typically arrive in a poly mailer or a sturdy Tyvek bag. To reduce waste, I will use my current stock of Tyvek and plastic bags and will gradually replace them with sustainable packaging from EcoEnclose. It’s a small way to be kinder to our planet.
